There is no single best dune buggy in Dubai: the best one is the buggy that matches your driving experience, the seats you need and the time you have. Dune Buggy Rentals Dubai rents eight self-drive Polaris and Can-Am buggies, priced per buggy from AED 600 for 30 minutes on the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC.
Key takeaways
- Eight buggies: the Polaris RZR 1000 CC, the Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo, the Can-Am Maverick X3 and the Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR, each as a 2 Seater and a 4 Seater.
- Prices are per buggy, not per person, for 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, from AED 600 per buggy to AED 5,200 per buggy.
- For a first drive, the site calls the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC the sensible default.
- Most families choose the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC, so parents and children share one vehicle.
- The Can-Am Maverick X3 is the step up for drivers who have driven off-road before.
- Ask the team before booking either turbo model for a first drive.
- No buggy price includes pickup: transfers are AED 175 per person sharing or AED 450 per private car.
- Rides start every 30 minutes from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM, daily.
Which dune buggies can you rent in Dubai?
Dune Buggy Rentals Dubai sells eight self-drive buggies on one activities booking form. They come from two makers, Polaris and Can-Am. Each maker has a standard model and a turbo model, and every model is sold as a 2 Seater and as a 4 Seater. That is how four model names become eight buggies.
The four models are the Polaris Dune Buggy RZR 1000 CC (called the Polaris RZR 1000 CC in this guide), the Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo, the Can-Am Maverick X3 and the Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR. A 2 Seater carries the driver and one passenger. A 4 Seater carries the driver and three passengers. Both sizes are priced per buggy, so one price covers everyone in the seats.
The main site's buggy pages focus on three of the eight: the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC, the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC and the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3. The Dubai dune buggy hub gives a short summary of those three. The other five, including both turbo models, are booked on the same form, so a fair comparison needs all eight side by side.
Every buggy and its price
Every price below is in AED, per buggy, for the whole ride length shown.
| Buggy | Seats | 30 minutes | 1 hour | 2 hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC | Driver and 1 passenger | AED 600 per buggy | AED 900 per buggy | AED 1,750 per buggy |
| 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC | Driver and 3 passengers | AED 800 per buggy | AED 1,200 per buggy | AED 2,200 per buggy |
| 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo | Driver and 1 passenger | AED 900 per buggy | AED 1,200 per buggy | AED 2,200 per buggy |
| 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo | Driver and 3 passengers | AED 1,200 per buggy | AED 2,150 per buggy | AED 3,975 per buggy |
| 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 | Driver and 1 passenger | AED 999 per buggy | AED 1,499 per buggy | AED 2,800 per buggy |
| 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 | Driver and 3 passengers | AED 1,200 per buggy | AED 1,950 per buggy | AED 3,800 per buggy |
| 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR | Driver and 1 passenger | AED 1,200 per buggy | AED 2,300 per buggy | AED 4,200 per buggy |
| 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR | Driver and 3 passengers | AED 1,400 per buggy | AED 2,700 per buggy | AED 5,200 per buggy |
Each price stands on its own. It covers the buggy and everyone in its seats, plus a helmet and goggles for each rider, fuel, a safety briefing, a guide and unlimited mineral water. Transfers are separate.
Where the price ladder overlaps
Lay the eight buggies side by side and a pattern appears: several of them share a price point. At those prices the choice is not about spending more or less. It is about seats, model and time.
- AED 900 per buggy buys the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo for 30 minutes, or the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC for 1 hour.
- AED 1,200 per buggy is the busiest price point. For 30 minutes it buys the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo, the 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 or the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR. For 1 hour it buys the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC or the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo.
- AED 2,200 per buggy buys 2 hours in either the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC or the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo.
These overlaps are why the price alone cannot tell you which buggy is best. At AED 900 per buggy, for example, the real decision is a shorter ride in a turbo model or a longer ride in the standard Polaris. For a first drive, the site's guidance points to the standard Polaris.
Is there one best dune buggy in Dubai?
No single buggy is best for every driver. The best dune buggy experience in Dubai comes from matching the machine to the person behind the wheel, the people in the seats and the time on the sand. Four plain questions narrow eight buggies down to one or two.
- Have you driven a buggy off-road before? If not, start with the Polaris RZR 1000 CC. If you have, the Can-Am Maverick X3 is the step up.
- How many people are riding? A 2 Seater takes the driver and one passenger, a 4 Seater the driver and three. More riders, or more people who want to drive, means more than one buggy.
- Do you want a turbo model? Both makers offer one. Ask the team before booking a turbo for a first drive.
- How long do you want to drive? Every buggy comes in 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, each with its own price per buggy.
Answer them in that order: experience decides the family, the number of riders decides the size, and only then do the turbo question and the ride length matter.
Polaris RZR or Can-Am Maverick X3: which family suits you?
The two families suit two different stages of driving. The site's own buggy guidance describes the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC as the sensible default for a first drive. It calls the buggy stable and forgiving of the small mistakes new drivers make in soft sand.
The Can-Am Maverick X3 is built wider and lower, with sharper cornering and a punchier throttle. The same guidance calls it the step up for drivers who have driven off-road before or want more pace. It also adds an honest note: on a 30 minute session, a first-time driver rarely uses half of what the Can-Am offers.
That makes the family choice mostly a question about you rather than the buggy. If this is your first time behind the wheel in sand, the Polaris is the forgiving place to start. If you have driven off-road before and want sharper cornering, the Can-Am is the next step. The 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000cc page and the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 page show each buggy in more detail.
2 Seater or 4 Seater: what changes?
The seat count changes who comes along, not who drives. Every buggy has one driver, an adult who carries photo ID. In a 2 Seater, one passenger sits beside the driver. In a 4 Seater, three passengers ride along. All of them are covered by the one price per buggy.
A 2 Seater suits a couple or two friends where one person drives. If both of you want to drive, each driver needs a buggy, and each buggy is priced on its own.
A 4 Seater is the family choice. The site's guidance says the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC is the one most families choose, so parents and children share one vehicle, and that it suits friends riding together. Children ride as passengers beside an adult and do not drive. Passenger rules depend on the buggy and the seat, so share every rider's age with the team when you book. The 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC page has more on the family buggy. Each of the four models also comes as a 4 Seater, so a group of four can pick the family first and the seats second.
Should you book a turbo buggy?
The Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo and the Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR are the turbo versions within each family. Both come as a 2 Seater and a 4 Seater, with the same three ride lengths as the standard models, and they sit higher on the price ladder. The 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo starts at AED 900 per buggy for 30 minutes, and the 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR tops the table at AED 5,200 per buggy for 2 hours.
The main site's tour pages do not cover the two turbo models, so the booking form is where you find them. If it is your first time driving a buggy, ask the team before booking a turbo: phone or WhatsApp +971 52 440 9525, or email [email protected]. Tell them who will drive and whether each driver has driven off-road before.
A turbo buggy rides in the same guided convoy as every other buggy, and the guide sets the pace for the least experienced driver. That is worth knowing if your group mixes a turbo with a first-timer in a standard buggy.
Does the ride length change the best choice?
Every buggy is sold for 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, each with its own price per buggy. The length does not change which family suits you, but a 30 minute ride is not a 30 minute outing. Plan for about 90 minutes on site: check-in, signing the liability form, fitting the helmet and goggles, the briefing, the drive and the photo stop. The 1 hour and 2 hour rides follow the same steps around a longer drive.
The site's note on the Can-Am applies here: a first-time driver with only 30 minutes is well matched with the Polaris RZR 1000 CC.
Rides start every 30 minutes from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM, daily. October to April is the main season, and in summer the site points riders to the earliest morning slots.
Which buggy fits your group?
The four questions above turn into a short list for the most common groups. Every price here is per buggy and stands alone.
A first drive for two
Book the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC: AED 600 per buggy for 30 minutes, AED 900 per buggy for 1 hour or AED 1,750 per buggy for 2 hours. One of you drives and the other rides beside the driver. It is the buggy the site calls the sensible default for a first drive, and the guide ahead sets the pace for the least experienced driver.
If both of you want to drive, book a 2 Seater each. Each buggy has its own driver and its own price per buggy.
A family or four friends
Book the 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC: AED 800 per buggy for 30 minutes, AED 1,200 per buggy for 1 hour or AED 2,200 per buggy for 2 hours. An adult with photo ID drives, and up to three passengers ride along, with children as passengers beside an adult.
If the driver has driven off-road before and the group wants sharper cornering, the 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 costs AED 1,200 per buggy for 30 minutes, AED 1,950 per buggy for 1 hour or AED 3,800 per buggy for 2 hours.
A returning driver
Start with the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3: AED 999 per buggy for 30 minutes, AED 1,499 per buggy for 1 hour or AED 2,800 per buggy for 2 hours. This is the step up the site describes for drivers who have driven off-road before or want more pace.
If you are weighing the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC Turbo or the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR instead, tell the team about your driving experience and let them help you choose.
A group that needs more than one buggy
Groups of more than four, or groups with several people who want to drive, book more than one buggy. Each buggy needs its own adult driver with photo ID, and each buggy is priced on its own. That means a group can choose a different model for each driver: a Polaris RZR 1000 CC for a first-timer and a Can-Am Maverick X3 for someone who has driven off-road before, for example.
On the day, the buggies ride in one convoy behind the guide, so nobody is sent off alone. For getting there together, a private car takes 5 to 6 guests at AED 450 per car.
What does every buggy include?
Whichever of the eight you book, the ride around it is the same.
- Self-drive and automatic. You drive the buggy yourself, and there is no clutch and no gears to change.
- A roll cage and harnesses. Every buggy has both.
- Gear and supplies. A helmet and goggles for each rider, fuel and unlimited mineral water. Every rider wears a helmet.
- A safety briefing. It covers the controls, hand signals and the convoy order. With the walkaround of the machine, it usually takes 10 to 15 minutes.
- A guide for the whole ride. The guide rides ahead, sets the pace for the least experienced driver and stops the convoy on a ridgeline for photos.
- No driving licence. Rides run on private desert terrain outside Dubai, not on public roads, so no driving licence is needed. Drivers are adults who carry photo ID.
- Closed-toe shoes. They are required. Sandals and flip-flops are not allowed.
The dune buggy rental guide goes further into what to wear and bring, the briefing and the gear.
Who should not drive a buggy?
Dune driving is physical. Riders with back or neck conditions, recent surgery or a pregnancy should not drive a buggy, whichever model it is. If you have any health condition, see a doctor before you book and declare it to the team when booking. The choice of buggy does not change this.
How do you get to the buggies?
No buggy price includes hotel pickup. The activities booking form offers three ways to arrive:
- Sharing transfer: AED 175 per person, for two or more guests from one pickup point.
- Private car: AED 450 per car, for 5 to 6 guests.
- Meet on site: book with no transfer, and the meeting point is emailed to you after booking.
Transfer pickup is 1 hour before your ride's start time. Add the transfer on the same form when you book the buggy.
How do you book, pay and cancel?
Book on the activities booking form: choose the buggy, the ride length, the number of buggies, the date and start time, and any transfer. Payment is by Visa or Mastercard in AED, in full when you book online, with no card processing fee. The booking confirmation arrives by email.
If dinner is part of the plan, the Dune Buggy & BBQ Dinner Packages pair a Polaris RZR 1000 CC or Can-Am Maverick X3 with the Bedouin BBQ dinner and live shows, starting at AED 2,200 per package for 2 people with the 2 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC.
Moving a booking to another date is free, subject to availability. Cancelling is by email only, and the time the email arrives sets the fee. The cancellation policy sets out two scales.
- Bookings of fewer than 4 guests: cancel 96 hours or more before departure and there is no cancellation fee, with the refund made less a 5% processing fee. At least 48 hours before, the fee is 50%. Under 24 hours, the fee is 100%.
- Bookings of 4 or more guests: cancel 7 days before departure for a 50% fee. At 5 days or less before departure, the fee is 100%.
Refunds go back to the original card within 7 to 10 business days. If the team cancels for weather, you get a refund less 5% or a new date. A full 4 Seater means a booking of 4 guests, so a family filling one should read the second scale before booking.
Which buggy should you book?
The best dune buggy rental in Dubai is the one chosen by experience first, seats second, then the turbo question and the ride length. For most first drives that means the 2 Seater or 4 Seater Polaris RZR 1000 CC. For drivers who have driven off-road before, it means the Can-Am Maverick X3. For either turbo model, it means a word with the team first.
When you have picked yours, book the buggy, the ride length and your start time on the activities booking form.
